ALTON Towers has been forced to close their doors early due to the pandemic, cancelling all of their planned festive events.
The theme park will now remain closed until the 2021 season restarts.
Alton Towers is closing until the 2021 season[/caption]Their Christmas events were due to run from December 27 to January 3, which included Santa sleepovers as well as visits to Santa’s grotto, free presents and access to parts of the park.
However, these will no longer go ahead.
The park said in a statement: “Following the latest Government guidance and updates regarding Covid-19, we have taken the very difficult decision to close the resort at the end of the day on December 23, meaning that Festive Days Out will not go ahead after Christmas (between 27 December and 3 January).
“We are so sorry if your visit has been affected. As always, your health and safety, and that of our employees, is our top priority and this is not a decision that we have taken lightly.”
All Christmas events at the park have been cancelled due to the pandemic[/caption]They added that anyone with booking can rebook on the website or should get in touch if they want a refund.
Families can book new dates from March 20 when the park hopes to reopen.
Last month, the park closed indefinitely due to the pandemic, but were able to reopen after the lockdown was lifted.
Other theme parks have also remained closed, including Disneyland Paris in France.
